World must build clear path to nuclear disarmament

SEVENTY-TWO years have passed since the horrors of nuclear weapons were unleashed. Sustained efforts must be continued to ensure this tragic chapter of human history never repeats itself. Hiroshima marked the anniversary of its atomic bombing on August 6, and Nagasaki will on August 9. Global interest in the atomic-bombed cities has been growing since then US President Barack Obama visited Hiroshima in May 2016. In the last fiscal year, a record-high 360,000 non-Japanese visitors went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
