Do North Korea's nuclear tests violate international law?

Owing to current affairs, I feel compelled to opine on the issue of North Korea's testing of nuclear bombs, or hydrogen bombs. Since I am unconcerned with which category of weapons North Korea tested, let us operate under the assumption that it was the earlier. Without fodder, let me arrive at the heart of the matteródoes North Korea's testing of nuclear bombs violate international law? Before answering this question, it would be helpful to define international law, which is generally accepted as laws that govern relations between nations in order to provide stability to transboundary problems. In other words, it is a set of rules for maintaining harmony between nations.
