The problem of nuclear weapons and agreements to not use them

ICAN's objective is to promote full adherence to the implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (PNW) which came into effect on July 7 this year. The goal of the PWN is the total elimination of nuclear weapons. In a vote on the treaty text, 122 nations (including New Zealand) voted in favour, 69 countries did not vote, including the "Big Five" nuclear superpowers (China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and the United States).
